I don't know why this is true but a cat simply cannot resist the pull of an empty box. We had a cat once that would go into a fit at Christmas trying to choose which box to play in. After a few minutes of joy overload she would tear around the house until she dropped from exhaustion and barely could make it to the nearest box. Too tired to choose, she seemed to calm down.

That is one of the reasons I love cats. You are right, they can't resist. We have three of them and if there's an empty box or bag, there's a race to see who gets it first...
