Tuesdays From The Toybox - Micronauts

Micronauts were among the first Japanese toys that I ever saw in North American toy stores. They had interchangeable pieces that allowed you to change the look and powers of a figure who like the rest of the characters had parts that could be mixed and matched. I loved the look of the Time Traveller character with their clear bodies and Egyptian themed time ships.

Like with ROM - SPACEKNIGHT, Marvel comics put out a series based on the toys that had nothing to do with their Japanese origins. In that comic book there existed a Microverse where a battle for power between the evil Lord Kaza and the rebel Micronauts took place. Only the robot/alien characters were ever made into toys. Just customs of the humanoid characters exist.

Love these figures as they were my first action figures. Last year I picked up a clear Time Traveler from a local toy seller and am hoping to get back there soon because he mentioned that he had a whole box of Micronaughts in the back of his store. Which I need to check out.

They were just so different than any kind of action figures North American kids had ever seen. I know. I was a student of toys from way back. I would STUDY those old catalogues in our school library to know what toys were sold each Christmas. A clear Time Traveler is a rare thing.

Yeah, I had all these as a kid (originals, not the custom ones)...but totally forgot about Baron Karza until now! Great post. :)

Oh and the robot with the interestingly placed drill did not escape the eye of an 8 year old... ;)
