Which Movie Robot Had The Most Effect On You?

Who can forget Box's appearance in Logan's Run? He looked and moved like an old piece of Soviet space junk but with that voice and especially the laughter, he terrified me and I never forgot that gut fear from the very first time I saw him. Looking at him today, he doesn't seem all that formidable and kinda easy to get away from.

So many choices! R2-D2 probably had the earliest influence with The Robot from the Lost in Space TV Series coming in at a close second.

Box was awesome, such a cool name as well. 'Course even more awesome was seeing Jenny Agutter naked for a few seconds in those scenes.

My first on-screen nudity and, heavens, she was perfect..

I have all those Marvel Logan's Run comics. (The series only went for seven issues before it was cancelled). It's surprisingly good, given how awful the movie is.

I also read both novels (Logan's Run and Logan's World, by George Clayton Johnson and William Nolan), and they're very good.

I don't know if this counts, but that lady Vera that turns into the evil robot/cyborg at the end of Superman 3 left an effect on me. It wasn't a good effect as it was terrifying. And I don't know if that counts cuz she was more of a cyborg, but it freaked me out.

It's got to be Robby from Forbidden Planet. Second choice Gort.

In the 60's there a Russian production called " Planet of storms " Roger Corman somehow wound up with the rights to the film and got two of his student Assistant directors ( Peter Bogdanovich and Francis Ford Coppala ) to take the footage from the Ruskie film and create two films of their own for his studio. They created two completely different movies that were very much alike. " Voyage to the planet of Prehistoric women starring Mamie Van Doren " I'm guessing that was Pete's film...he's a notorious perv and then Frankie made " Voyage to a prehistoric planet " both were released as two different Corman sci fi productions. Anyway there was a Robot ( the scene was in both films ) The robot saved two astronauts and sacrificed itself by wading through lava to get the Astronauts to safety by carrying them on it's shoulders...In one movie it's name was JOHN and in the other it's name was X-15...if I remember right... I felt bad for the robot...stupid lava!!!

I have to check those out. I am a big fan of Corman and his cheap ways.

Both those films are part of the Sci-Fi Classics Anniversary Edition put out by Mill Creek Entertainment, a collection of 50 old sci-fi films. The transfer is bloody awful, but it's the only way to see some of this stuff, and it only cost around 20 bucks.
