You know, Klimt was kind of a husky guy, balding and with a beard. He liked cats too. Reminds me of someone, but I can't quite place who.

Ah ha! THAT'S why you're such a fan of his!

I think its great that you have an interest in "high art" as well as "commercial" or "illustration" art. I'd be very interested in learning what kind of other classic works you admire.

That is GREAT to know Debra. I just like being able to make the joke and recognize his work. All those artists who lived and worked during the Victorian age. Plus you can recognize his work. It's very distinctive. But mostly I like him for that Klimt joke.

Oh and Erik that is a good question. I would have to think about that. Make a list do a post. There is a little about each, like Klimt that make them stand out.

I ask because its easy for me to list all sorts of comic book style influences on my work, but I enjoy a number of classical works as well, particularly the Pre-Raphelities as they were pioneers in draftsmanship that would eventually lead to the commercial illustration field.

I do like Klimt's use of gold colored baubles in his work, especially here against the dark blue to create this "shimmering midnight" feel.
