All Star Western Covers Of The Week

Personally I just can't get enough of the bounty hunter Jonah Hex. From his messed up face to his bad ass attitude he was one of the original comic book anti-heroes. Long before there was a Punisher there was Jonah dispensing righteous justice against the evil men and women who deserved it. Dead or Alive is how he went after each bounty but DEAD is how anyone who faced Jonah Hex ended up.

In the hands of the right creative team you can tell some edgy westerns with interesting characters in exciting situations. I always thought this would be a great AMC series after seeing Hell on Wheels. There is room for a supernatural revenge western. Every time I read one of these comics I see the episodes come alive in front of me and that's that signs that this is a terrific property waiting for it's chance at success.

Of course my whole plan for Jonah Hex assumes you either have never seen or forget that they ever made that move with Josh Brolin and Megan Fox. The second you give Hex an 'origin story' you totally take the magic from the character. He's like a force of nature who follows evil and revenges himself upon that evil - he's an agent of order who just uses brutal instant violence to get the job done. The scar alienates him from other except for those who truly can see beyond such deformities...usually abuse victims like himself. Then he is unkillable or virtually so. That makes him very tough to get rid of once he has your scent. That is the Jonah Hex they totally missed with this garbage pile of film. 'member? You 'member.

I dropped this title reluctantly after he got beamed to 21st Century Gotham and it was obvious there was no plan to send him back to his native habitat - the Wild West. Another great move by DC!

If someone can tell me when they send him back where he belongs then I'll pick up this title again in a heartbeat.

I know. It's like everything good that DC does get's recognized and messed up by someone trying to make their 'bones' but have no love for comics.
