What If Doctor Who Was An American TV Show?

Aside from the switching of the two 'Darrens' on Bewitched, there are almost no examples of multiple actors playing the same character in a long running American TV program. For this reason the concept of Doctor Who would never have survived a 50 year run in the US as it has done in Britain. The British are much more accepting of new shows and concepts while the American's tend to go with formulas that have worked in the past and are constantly trying to 'recapture lighting in the bottle', often without much success. However, it is fun to think about. I think many of the casting choices are excellent with Gene Wilder being my favorite and most surprising choice - surprising because I never thought of it first. It was the one I looked at and said "YES" immediately. What do you think? And please, no cries of protest for even considering the idea.

Then I saw this and it seemed perfect to accompany this video.

The world is such a magical place when it wants to be.

Clever choosing two actors who were both in Galaxy Quest.

Can you imagine Harrison Ford as the War Doctor? Brilliant!

I like the casting of Kyle MacLachlan too, particularly if, in that era, the character drew on his Twin Peaks eccentricity.

Many do fit their time. Like Jeff Goldblum only lasting one year. He would make people crazy with his 'notes'.
