Until Austin Powers stole the tune and turned it into a joke, this was a funky little intro to the stupidest game show in television history - Definition - something that all Canadian kids remember being a big waste of time on our precious few channels. The game wasn't fun to play along with. I never got the concept of giving and taking away letters. The prizes rarely totalled more than fifty dollars but apparently they gave away cars as this clip shows. Where the hell did this cheap ass show ever get a CAR to give away? I bet it was stolen. But Jim was always a professional and took all this goofiness seriously. He really enjoyed listening to the sound of his own voice as well. I did really enjoy Card Sharks. The big cards were cool and it was fun to play along.
Broadcaster Jim Perry, known for hosting several Canadian and American gamesshows and the Miss Canada Pageant for more than two decades, died on Friday. He was 82.
Born in New Jersey in on November 9, 1933, Perry started out as a singer before becoming the host of CTV’s "Definition," a Hangman-style game show. He hosted the show for 15 years until it ended in 1989. From 1972 to 1983, he also hosted “Headline Hunters,” a CTV show that quizzed contestants on news by offering clues in the form of headlines.

RIP Jim Perry. I always thought he was handsomer with silver hair in the early days before he dyed it dark. I think "Definition" gave away a car when they were trying to make a go of the game show in the US.
